Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has committed to emphasize the welfare and well-being of the Nigerian army.
He promised to put “soldiers first” in order to improve their living conditions and morale.
This vow was made by General Oluyede while addressing troops from the 26 Brigade in Dutse during his working tour of the formation on Tuesday.
He stressed that efforts were being made to boost soldiers’ Ration Cash Allowance (RCA), which would provide better food conditions wherever they were posted.
“We’re aiming to raise the RCA to improve your nutrition and overall well-being. The Army is dedicated to ensuring that every soldier is well cared for, regardless of where they serve,” the Army Chief remarked.
Take advantage of the Affordable Housing Ownership Options for All Soldiers (AHOOAS) program and other financial empowerment initiatives designed to help soldiers and their families.
According to him, the housing initiative has already benefited approximately 400 servicemen, including those wounded in combat during military operations.
General Oluyede entrusted the troops with intensive training to preserve physical and professional fitness while being law-abiding and disciplined.
The COAS praised the troops for protecting their area of responsibility and then toured the recently finished Brigade Headquarters, continuing projects, and the Brigade’s new Obstacle Course.
Earlier, Brigadier General Joseph Mackintosh, Commander of 26 Brigade, updated the COAS on the security situation in the Brigade’s area of responsibility, outlining major challenges for the troops.
He told the soldiers under his leadership that they would remain devoted to preserving the region’s safety and security.
