Suspected Cultists Kill Man in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has verified the assassination of an unidentified man by suspected cultists in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the police, the event occurred inside a renowned lounge in Ibadan’s Bodija district.

CSP Adewale Osifeso, the command’s spokesman, issued the statement on Sunday in Ibadan, the state capital.

“The Oyo State Police Command has launched a quick investigation into the Bodija murder incident, which occurred early Sunday.

“Preliminary investigations indicated that a man who has yet to be recognized was chased and shot dead a few blocks from the renowned lounge in Bodija, Ibadan.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder is cult-related,” he told reporters.

According to a police spokesman, officers were deployed in the area to preserve law and order, and normalcy had been restored.

He did, however, say that claims on social media that the police accidently murdered an eyewitness (student) while attempting to disperse people at the crime scene were false.

Osifeso stated that no one was killed during or after the police removed onlookers from the crime site.

He stated that the matter had been referred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku.

He stated that Commissioner of Police Ayodele Sonubi has asked a Deputy Commissioner of Police to investigate the case.
