The body of one of the five abducted members of the Chikakore hamlet in the Kubwa district of the Federal Capital Territory has been discovered.
Mrs Esther Adesiyan’s body was reportedly found in a bush near the Itagbajii community in Niger State on Monday night.
The dead, her husband, Mr. Akinropo Adesiyan, their son Ifeoluwa, a family friend, Dr. Adekunle Adeniji, and a neighbour working at a poultry farm near their home were kidnapped on Sunday about 11:30 p.m.
The poultry worker’s wife was reportedly hurt and sent to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.
SP In a statement made Monday in Abuja, Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the abduction.
Speaking about how the corpse was retrieved, Mr Oluwafemi Adepoju, a coworker and ally of the deceased’s spouse, told NAN that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Byazhin Police Station in Kubwa summoned him at 8:30 a.m.
“When I arrived at Byazhin Police Station this morning, the DPO, Michael Adah, informed me that we were headed to Niger State for me to identify a recovered body.
“When we arrived at a large hospital near the Dikko hamlet in Niger State, I recognized the dead as my boss’s wife.
“A team of police officers and a vigilante group, who told how the body was recovered, said they heard a gunshot while patrolling near Itagbajii hamlet around 9 p.m. Monday.
“The victim was shot in the left side of her chest and had bruises all over her body,” Adepoju, a National Assembly Commission staff member, stated.
