Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 to reach the final

Newcastle will compete in this year’s Carabao Cup final after defeating Arsenal 2-0 in the second leg of their semi-final match on Wednesday night.
The Magpies dominated the opening leg of the tie at the Emirates, winning 2-0.

Eddie Howe’s side took a commanding lead into the second leg at St James Park thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Isak thought he had extended their lead with a powerful finish, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside.

However, Jacob Murphy was not to be denied, as he capitalized on Isak’s rebound to open the scoring in the first half.

Arsenal attempted to fight back and level, but the hosts scored the second goal.

David Raya’s pass out of the back was intercepted, and Gordon comfortably slotted home.

Newcastle will now face the winner of the Liverpool-Tottenham Hotspur semi-final for the trophy.

The second leg of the semi-final will take place on Thursday, with Spurs leading 1-0 after the first game.
