Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has retaliated against Nigerian singer Naira Marley after he published their private conversations online.
The hacked chats, which published online yesterday, generated significant speculation about the extent of their relationship, contradicting her prior claims of having no intimate ties to the musician.
In reaction to the issue, the actress rushed to social media to clarify, sharing additional screenshots and emphasizing that their contacts were entirely professional.
She stated that she routinely communicates with celebrities via direct messages and that such encounters do not discourage her from speaking out when necessary.
She wrote:
“Naira Marley recently revealed our previous conversations, and I’d like to address a few points.
As a TikTok celebrity, I’ve promoted songs by a variety of musicians, including Naira Marley. In 2020, I promoted his music after his team reached me via my son Festus.
Naira Marley congratulated me via DM, and I invited him to my movie premiere and mother’s burial celebration.
As an advocate for developing artists, I’ve helped numerous young musicians publicize their work. I’ve let them use my lounge for performances, promoted their songs on TikTok, and introduced them to music producers such as Naira Marley. For example, Fabian was signed by Naira Marley but departed due to personal reasons, and my nephew’s musical style did not fit Naira Marley’s company.
However, when distressing recordings and petitions surfaced alleging that Naira Marley’s friend, Sam Larry, tormented Mohbad, a young artist who sadly died, I questioned Marley’s inaction. I never accused him of killing Mohbad, but the evidence implies that Mohbad’s life was endangered.
My concern with Naira Marley originates from his failure to intervene in Mohbad’s bullying. Furthermore, I’ve been informed of allegations about Naira Marley’s involvement in other distressing situations, which will be handled in court if necessary.
I refuse to turn a blind eye to injustice, especially if it impacts someone dear to me. I connect with many celebrities via direct message, including Vice Versa, and I will not hesitate to speak out against injustice, regardless of our previous encounters. Naira Marley, you were foolish if you believed I would remain silent.”
