Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari claims that the rent on one of his residences provides him with enough money to eat himself.
Buhari claimed that while in power, he did not enrich himself with public cash, which is why he currently generates money from his property.
He stated this during an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting held on Saturday at the Presidential Banquet Hall of the Government House in Katsina State.
According to Buhari, political and public officeholders must be accountable and transparent.
He said:
“After eight years as a civil president, I only own three houses: one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I’ve given one out for rent, and I get money for feeding.”
