Edo Assembly dismisses political advisers

The Edo State House of Assembly has fired all political appointees employed by its 24 legislators.

Special advisers (SAs) and senior special advisers (SSAs) are among those who have been affected.

Speaker Blessing Agbebaku announced the decision in plenary Wednesday, noting that the sack takes immediate effect. He said that the impacted aides would still receive their February salary.

“Upon restart, members nominated individuals from their constituencies to serve as aides. After nearly two years, the House has agreed that all SAs and SSAs will be removed of their offices effective today, February 19, 2025,” he stated.
