Temilade Openiyi, often known as Tems, dedicated her Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance to her mother.
Tems won the “Best African Music Performance Award” for her song “Love Me Jeje” at the 67th Grammy Awards.
She won the prize over Yemi Alade, Asake and Wizkid, Davido and Lojay, and Burna Boy, who were all nominated in the same category.
Tems accepted the medal in an emotional mood, expressing thankfulness to God and appreciation for her mother.
“Wow, Dear God. Thank you so much for putting me on this stage and introducing me to this team.
“Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday, and this is her first Grammy. I just want to thank you, mother, because she has done so much for me and my brother.
“Happy birthday, mother. And I’d like to thank my staff. Best wishes to Muyiwa, Wale, my stylist, and the wonderful girls. I love you both.
“Thank you so lot. To God be the praise. “Honestly, He has changed my life so much,” she stated.
