Four people are feared dead following a tragic road accident In Anambra

According to the Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), four individuals were murdered in an accident on the Onitsha-Oba Expressway in Idemili South Local Government Area on Friday.
Joyce Alexander, the Sector Commander, confirmed the accident to journalists in Awka.

She stated that the accident could be attributed to a route violation that resulted in a head-on collision.

According to her, the collision involved a private Toyota Hummer bus with the registration number UWN763XA, a government-owned Toyota Hummer bus with no registration number, and a Mercedes-Benz tipper.

“Eyewitnesses reported that one of the automobiles drove against traffic, collided with two other vehicles, and crashed.

“The crash involved five male adults. Four perished, and one was injured.

“It is worth noting that the FRSC rescue squad was first hampered in doing their responsibilities due to an attack by local youths from the Oba community.

“However, the rescue effort was conducted out by Anambra State Anti-tout personnel.

“FRSC team is currently managing traffic, and the crashed vehicles have been cleared from the road, allowing for a smooth flow of traffic,” according to Alexander.

While commiserating with the families of the deceased, the Sector Commander recommended motorists to avoid dangerous driving and route infractions, particularly on the expressway.

She also urged to the public to allow the FRSC team to carry out rescue operations and clear blockages, as any delay could result in the loss of lives.
